Biden defends decision to withdraw from Afghanistan

SANAA, Aug. 17 (YPA) – US President Joe Biden jusated the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, saying that the time it comes to leave the country after 20 years of war.

“After 20 years I learned the hard way it would never be a good time to pull US forces from Afghanistan,” Biden said in a speech at White House.

“We went to Afghanistan for nearly 20 years to clear objectives to eliminate those who attacked us on 11 September 2001, and to ensure that al-Qaeda could not use Afghanistan as a base for our gungone again,” he said.

The US president recognized that the Afghan government collapsed faster than expected, stressing that the United States did everything they could support.

“I have always pledged the American people to be experiencing him, the truth is that this has been much faster than our estimates,” he said.
