German diplomat: What happened in Afghanistan is evidence of US intelligence failure
BERLIN, Aug. 16 (YPA) – Chairman of the Munich International Security Conference, Wolfgang Ischinger, has considered that the situation in Afghanistan indicates a complete failure of the US intelligence services.
“Me, like almost everyone, I am shocked and resentful, because all of us, both the United States and its European allies, are so far from the truth,” Ischinger said on Monday in statements to German TV channel No. 24.
He continued saying:” We were very confident that there are armed and well-trained forces in Afghanistan, and only a few days ago, I received reports from the Americans confirming that these forces are able to defend Kabul for months.”
The German diplomat added: “It all collapsed like a house of cards, and this indicates a complete failure and a complete defeat in the assessments of the military situation, and I think it is American intelligence assessments.”
