NCM affirms continued instability within coming 24 hours

SANAN, Aug. 10 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) expected rains of varying intensity, accompanied by thunderstorms, to continue in a number of governorates during the next 24 hours.

The center stated in its weather forecast on Tuesday,  in its weather forecast that rainfall of varying intensity would be prevailed on accompanied by thunderstorms in separate areas of the mountainous heights from Saada in the north to Taiz and Lahj in the south, and extending to parts of the interior hills of the governorates of Dhalea, Abyan, Shabwah, Hadhramout and Mahra.

The center indicated the possibility of medium to heavy rains on parts of the western coasts and the adjacent interior areas, and light to medium rains on parts of the deserts of Hadhramaut, Shabwa, Jawf and Marib governorates.

The center warned citizens in areas where rain is expected to avoid being in torrents and valleys, and advised not to use mobile phones during lightning.

The center also warned drivers on the mountain slopes and the western coastal plains of a decrease in the horizontal visibility due to heavy rain or the formation of fog, rockslides and mudslides.

The center also warned sea-goers and fishermen, especially the captains of small ships in the Gulf of Aden, the southern and eastern coasts and the Socotra archipelago, of sea turbulence and high waves as a result of strong winds.
