OUAGADOUGOU, Aug. 06 (YPA) – Burkina Faso authorities announced on Thursday that at least 30 people were killed in a series of attacks by an armed group in the north of the country.
The Ministry of Defense in Burkina Faso confirmed, in a statement issued Thursday, that the unidentified gunmen attacked Wednesday afternoon villages near the town of Markoye, located on the Niger border, before the security forces confronted them.
The ministry noted that the attacks claimed the lives of 11 civilians, 15 soldiers and four members of a government-backed civilian armed faction.
