SANAA, Jul. 17 (YPA) – Violent clashes broke out between Arab tribesmen and pro-US militia in eastern Syria’s Deir ez-Zor countryside early Saturday, in parallel with US coalition forces storming a stronghold of the Al Uqaydat tribe in the region.
Local sources in Deir ez-Zor countryside told media that the clashes began at dawn today after an armed attack by popular factions of the tribe of ” Al Uqaydat ” and other clans on the positions of the pro-US army organization in the town of Dhiban, in response to an armed group of the organization at dawn on Friday, storming the town and killing a man and his son of the tribe.”
The sources pointed out that the militants of the pro-US army organization also imposed siege on the cities of Al-Shahil and Hajeen .
The towns and cities of Dhiban, Al-Shahil and Hajeen are strongholds of the “Arab Al Uqaydat” tribe, which is opposed to the US military’s continued control and looting of oil fields in eastern Syria.
