WHO: Corona pandemic situation in world is deteriorating

SANAA, Jul. 13 (YPA) – The World Health Organization confirmed that the situation related to the Corona virus pandemic is deteriorating, expecting that the “Delta” strain will soon turn into the dominant version in the world.

The Director-General of the Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said during a press conference held on Monday: “The past week was the fourth in a row during which an increase in the number of Covid-19 infections was detected in the world, this rise was recorded in 6 WHO regions, and the death index also increased, after witnessing a decline over the previous 10 weeks.

“We are facing a deteriorating health emergency (of the coronavirus pandemic), which is putting lives, livelihoods and sustainable global recovery at increased risk,” Tedros added.

He stated that the “Delta” strain of the Corona virus that causes “Covid-19” infection has been recorded so far in 104 countries, pointing out that the expectations of the World Health Organization indicate that it will soon become the dominant version around the world.

The “Delta” strain, which was first discovered in India, is at least twice more transmissible compared to its counterparts, and it also increases the risk of the disease becoming difficult when infected.
