4 mercenaries killed, 2 arrested in Haiti after assassinating president

SANAA, Jul. 08 (YPA) – Haitian police announced on Thursday that four “mercenaries” had been killed and two others arrested after assassinating the country’s president, Jovenel Moyes.

“Four of them (mercenaries) were killed and two others were injured,” Haitian Police Chief Leon Charles said at a press conference Wednesday evening (local time).

During the operation, three police officers had been taken hostage, but later released.

Phuket Edmund, Haiti’s ambassador to Washington said suspects have been arrested in the assassination of President Jovenel Moyes, pointing out that they are under investigation.

“Some of President Jovenel Moyes’s alleged killers have been arrested and are being questioned at this time,” Edmund said in press releases.

On Wednesday morning, Haiti’s acting Prime Minister, Claude Joseph, announced the assassination of the country’s President, Jovenel Moyes, at his private residence.
