SHABWA, Jul. 07 (YPA) – About five protesters were injured on Wednesday in a shooting carried out by the Saudi-backed Islah military in Shabwa province, eastern Yemen.
Local sources said the Islah’s special forces fired live bullets at a demonstration that organized by the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s supporters in Bayhan district, calling for the party’s departure from the province.
According to the sources, the protesters were able to bring the wounded to a hospital in the city, two of whom were seriously injured.
On Wednesday, the Islah Party’s Security Committee in Shabwa said in a statement it would suppress the STC’s any protests in the province’s districts.
