Russian Federal Security Service thwarts series of ISIS attacks

SANAA, Jul. 5 (YPA) – The Russian Federal Security Service announced that it had thwarted a series of terrorist attacks in the cities of Moscow, Astrakhan and the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, which were prepared by members of the terrorist organization “ISIS”.

The security said in a statement: “A series of terrorist attacks that were planned in the summer of 2021 by members of cells affiliated with the terrorist organization “ISIS” were thwarted, and as a result of the measures taken, six militants were neutralized and two were arrested.”

Last Thursday, a person from the terrorist organization was arrested in the capital, Moscow, for plotting to detonate a bomb in a crowded place.

At the beginning of the month, the Federal Security Service announced that it had thwarted terrorist acts that members of the “ISIS” organization were planning to carry out in the Russian capital, Moscow, and the Astrakhan region in southern Russia.

The statement indicated that one of the criminals in the Astrakhan province resisted the security forces during his arrest, which led to the forces neutralizing him, and the second was arrested in Moscow.

The statement noted that automatic weapons, ammunition, an F-1 grenade, and extremist religious literature were found during searches and during searches, in the places of residence of the accused. Criminal cases related to evidence of participation in the activities of a terrorist organization were opened.
