SANAA, Aug. 21 (YPA) – The American CBS network revealed, on Thursday, that a US Navy F-18 fighter jet crashed into the ocean off the coast of Virginia, yesterday, Wednesday.
The network quoted US officials as saying that the crashed aircraft is the sixth F-18 lost by the Navy in the past ten months, including two fighters in the Red Sea.
The network indicated that the pilot of a US Navy Super Hornet fighter jet was rescued after it crashed into the ocean, noting that the pilot, whose health condition was not confirmed, was transferred to the hospital for a medical evaluation.
A statement by Navy spokesman, Lieutenant Jackie Parashar, said that shortly before 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time, a pilot from Strike Fighter Squadron (83) ejected from a Super Hornet during a routine training flight.
