Ship with 300 Africans on board sinks off Yemen coast

SANAA, Jun. 25 (YPA) – A ship carrying hundreds of African migrants sank Thursday off the Yemeni coast.

Media outlets quoted a UN official as saying that 300 people on board a ship sank off the Yemeni coast, without giving any other details.

“The migrant crisis is adding to the pressure on the already deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen,” said William David Gresley, the UN Humanitarian coordinator for Yemen.

Earlier in this month, about 200 African migrants died drowned off the coast of Ras al-Ara in Lahj province, southern Yemen.
