Hashtag attacking STC tops “trend” in Yemen

ADEN, Jun. 18 (YPA) – Activists affiliated with the Yemeni Islah Party launched on Friday a hashtag attacking the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), in light of the conflict and competition between the two parties over the rule of the occupied southern provinces.

The hashtag, which describes the STC as “terrorist, racist and mercenary”, topped the list of the most popular hashtags (trend) in Yemen.

The activists said that the hashtage comes as a condemnation of the STC corruption and an expression of the southerners’ rejection of the separatist plans.

On Wednesday, the STC President, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, reiterated the emphasis on moving on the path of self-determination and what he called the restoration of the former People’s Democratic Republic of Yemen in the southern part of the country.

In the same context, southern activists affiliated with the STC again demanded the leadership of the Council not to allow the presence of the “Hadi government” in the city of Aden, in response to the hashtag.
