TAIZ, Aug. 09 (YPA) – Islah Party-affiliated factions in the city of Turbah in al-Shamayatayn District of Taiz province released Tariq al-Humaidi, the Criminal Investigation Director in the Al-Maqatra District of Lahj province, a month after his abduction. Signs of torture were evident on al-Humaidi’s body.
Al-Humaidi, who also serves as an investigation officer in the Second Al-Amaliqa Brigade, was abducted on July 20 and taken to an Islah prison in Turbah.
Human rights activists circulated a video showing signs of torture on al-Humaidi’s body. They accused Abu Bakr al-Jabbouli, commander of the Fourth Infantry Brigade affiliated with the Islah party, and his two brothers of being behind his torture.
The activists indicated that the torture was due to al-Humaidi’s role in exposing cases of violations against citizens in the area.
