Deputy FM stresses need to redouble humanitarian efforts in Yemen
SANAA, Jun. 02 (YPA) – Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein Al-Ezzi on Wednesday stressed the need to redouble the efforts of humanitarian organizations in Yemen, in line with the increasing humanitarian needs.
This came during his meeting with Deputy Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Sanaa Alexandre Equey areas of joint cooperation between Yemen and the Committee.
The meeting touched on the preparations and the ongoing arrangements for the visit of the President of ICRC, Peter Maurer, to Yemen.
In the meeting, the Deputy Foreign Minister referred to the latest developments in the humanitarian situation in Yemen resulting from the continuation of the aggression and the siege for the seventh year in a row.
He called on the humanitarian organizations to put pressure on the aggression countries to respect their obligations under international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
For his part, Equey praised the facilities provided by the concerned and relevant authorities to the ICRC delegation in Sanaa. He affirmed the Committee’s keenness to continue providing all possible aspects of support to Yemen and alleviate the suffering of Yemenis.
