Military commander loyal to coalition survives assassination attempt in Taiz

TAIZ, May 23 (YPA) – A military commander loyal to Saudi-led coalition forces survived an assassination attempt in Taiz province, southwest Yemen.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on local sources.

According to the sources, unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire at  Colonel Abu Shaddad al-Ameri, a  commander in  the “4th” Mountain Infantry Brigade, while he was on a military vehicle in the city of Al-Turbah, the center of the Directorate of Al-Shamaytain in Taiz.

The sources said Colonel Al-Ameri escaped the assassination, while his military vehicle was damaged.

The city of Al-Turbah is experiencing tension between the 35th Brigade and the Islah militants .

On Thursday, a citizen was injured in armed clashes between two gangs, part of the Taiz military axis forces, in the center of the same city.
