Hodeida’s Electricity Corp. appeals to world to urgently intervene to release fuel ships

HODEDIA, March 21 (YPA) – The Electricity Corporation in Hodeida province on Saturday appealed to the United Nations, the international community and international organizations to urgently intervene to avoid the humanitarian catastrophe resulting from preventing fuel ships from entering Yemen by Saudi-led coalition.

General Director of the Electricity Corporation in Hodeida, Bandar Al-Mahdi, explained that preventing the entry of oil derivatives by the coalition has led to a critical stage in various aspects of life in the city of Hodeida.

“The health sector in Hodeida city is threatened with suspension due to lack of fuel,” Al-Mahdi said in a statement to Yemen Press Agency, indicating that the city’s hospitals depend on the Electricity Corporation’s services.

Al-Mahdi referred that the Electricity Corporation in Hodeida, since last Thursday, began implementing a schedule to cut off the electricity supply due to the lack of fuel.

The electricity service in Hodeida is now provided by 50 percent, on the way to counting down electricity services, he added.

Al-Mahdi said that the coalition intends to double the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, by tightening the blockade on oil derivatives in conjunction with the onset of the summer season.
