Press conference in Hodeida port reveals disaster due to holding fuel ships

HODEDIA, March 21 (YPA) – Governor of Hodeida province, Mohammed Ayyash Quhim said on Saturday that Saudi-led coalition countries and its mercenaries continue to detain fuel ships and prevent their entry to Hodeida port, which has exacerbated the suffering of Yemeni people.

During a press conference held by the local authority in coordination with the Yemeni Petroleum Company at the port of Hodeida, Quhim affirmed that detaining of oil ships is contrary to the ethics of war.

“This act represents a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, and the Security Council resolutions in support of the Stockholm Agreement, which stipulated not to impede the entry of fuel ships,” he said.

The governor held the international community the moral and humanitarian responsible for the continuing suffering of the Yemeni people, as a result of not allowing the entry of fuel and the continued closure of land, sea and air ports, which heralds the biggest humanitarian disaster.

Quhaim called on the United Nations to play a humanitarian role and take a clear position on the detention of fuel ships and to work to lift the blockade and stop the aggression on Yemen.

He referred that 14 fuel ships, nine of them were expected to arrive in 2020, have not been allowed to enter the Hodeida port by the coalition warships, even though they obtained UN permits.
