SANAA, Feb. 20 (YPA) – The US State Department spokesman, Ned Price, announced that his country decided not to link the temporary suspension of some Ethiopian aid to US policy regarding the Renaissance Dam.
Price attributed this decision to facilitate a solution to the ongoing crisis between Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan due to this project.
Price said, during a media briefing, on Friday evening: The administration of President Joe Biden is reviewing its policy towards the Renaissance Dam and evaluating its role in facilitating a solution between Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan.
Price added that the United States decided not to link the temporary suspension of some Ethiopian aid to American policy regarding the Renaissance Dam, and stated that Washington informed the Ethiopian government of this decision, saying: “We continue to support the joint and constructive efforts of Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan to reach an agreement regarding the Renaissance Dam.”
Price added that the temporary suspension of specific US foreign aid to Ethiopia affects $ 272 million in the security and development sectors, indicating that the resumption of aid will depend on a number of factors.
