‘Insan’ Organization: Yemeni blood is not card for political profiteering and alignment with Saudi Regime
SANAA, Oct. 13 (YPA) – The” Insan Rights and Freedoms Organization” has denounced the double standards in the positions of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen and his alignment with the Saudi regime, citing his silence over hundreds of crimes committed by Saudi Arabia in Yemen.
In a condemnation statement received by the “Yemen News Agency”, the organization stated that hundreds of crimes committed by Saudi Arabia in Yemen have resulted in thousands of martyrs—the majority of whom are women and children—and the destruction of hundreds of civilian facilities, without the UN Envoy issuing any condemnation of those crimes.
The organization condemned this approach, considering that it raises serious questions about the UN Envoy’s commitment to the neutrality expected in international mediation and reinforces the impression of bias toward the Saudi regime. It stressed its rejection of political profiteering at the expense of Yemeni blood and suffering through condemning the attacked party while showing solidarity with the party that committed crimes against civilians and their property.
The statement explained that silence regarding Saudi crimes, contrasted with rushing to condemn the Yemeni response, reveals unacceptable selectivity in handling events and places the credibility of the UN Envoy and the United Nations before serious questions. It emphasized that international mediation must not turn into a platform for solidarity with one party while overlooking its crimes, nor into a tool for exerting political pressure on the attacked party and marginalizing the rights of its victims.
Insan held the UN Envoy and the United Nations responsible for the repercussions of these double standards on trust in international mediation efforts, affirming that true neutrality requires applying a single standard to all and addressing violations in accordance with the provisions of international law, far from selectivity and political calculations.
The organization demanded that the UN Envoy exit the circle of selective silence, adopt clear stances regarding Saudi crimes committed against the Yemeni people, and cease stances that reinforce the impression of bias toward the Saudi regime and undermine confidence in his role as an international mediator.
The organization affirmed that Yemeni blood is not a card for bargaining and that their suffering is not a means for political profiteering, warning that condemning the attacked party and showing solidarity with the aggressor will not forge peace, but will rather deepen distrust and undermine opportunities for reaching a fair settlement.
It stressed that international silence neither erases crimes nor nullifies the rights of victims, nor does it exempt the international community from its legal and moral responsibilities.
