Southern leader accuses Hadi gov’t of selling Socotra archipelago

SANAA, Jan. 27 (YPA) – A senior southern leader accused on Wednesday the Saudi-backed resigned Hadi government of selling Socotra Island to the UAE.

Anis Mansour, a former media advisor at the government’s embassy in Riyadh, said on Twitter, “The voices humming about the issue of Socotra Island and the governor’s return is a bad truth.”

Mansour explained that Socotra is more important to the Emirates than Aden city in the coming period.

“The UAE could abandon Aden, but it did not and will not abandon its ambitions to seize Socotra,” he added.
