UAE has received more than 50,000 Israelis in 8 weeks

BERLIN, Jan. 16 (YPA) – The past eight weeks have witnessed a significant increase in the number of Israeli tourists coming to the UAE, as more than 50,000 Israelis flocked to its tourist cities.

The German Radio “DW” website stated that four airlines serve 15 flights throughout the day between the UAE and Israel.

The website added that Israel was in a state of strict lockdown for most of 2020; this prompted secular and financially affluent Jews alike to travel to the Gulf state, especially after opening kosher restaurants, in order to enjoy its tourist attractions and shopping centers, during the Hanukkah Jewish holiday last December.

What contributed to the promotion of Israeli tourism in the UAE is that the hassles of obtaining a visa are absent, which the spokesperson for the Israeli Minister of Health, Adam Cohen, commented on by saying: “Even two weeks ago, the UAE, Seychelles and Rwanda were the only three countries that did not require the quarantine of the Israelis.”

On January 13, 2021, the UAE informed Israel that it had ratified the agreement on mutual exemption for citizens of both countries from entry visa requirements, according to a statement by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
