LAHJ, Jan. 9 (YPA) – A violent explosion hit on Saturday the Saudi-led coalition-run Al-Anad military Base in Lahj province, south of Yemen, sources said.
The sources affirmed that an artillery attack targeted the gate of Al-Anad base, which resulted in heavy damage to a number of homes and shops near the gate.
According to the sources, the attack came as a result of tension between the Saudi-backed Islah militants and the militia of the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC), which is trying to impose its control over the military sites near the gate of the base.
The Islah Party has sought to control the coastal areas in Tor al-Baha area, after being controlled over the strategic mountain range in Al-Hajariyah, Mudharaba and Al-Maqtara areas of the province.
