Armed confrontations renew in Abyan

ABYAN, Nov. 25 (YPA) – Armed confrontations renewed on Wednesday between the Saudi-led coalition factions in Yemen’s southern province of Abyan, sources said.

The sources affirmed that the clashes erupted between the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia, and the Islah party militants in Zinjibar district, using mutual artillery shelling.

The artillery shelling coincided with the arrival of military reinforcements of the STC coming from Aden, to the sites of Sheikh Salem front in Abyan, according to the sources.

On Tuesday, the head of the Islah Party, Mohammad al-Yadoumi, demanded, on Facebook, the implementation of the military and security aspects of the so-called “Riyadh-run Agreement,” signed on November 5, 2019, between the two warring sides.

The agreement called on the STC forces to go out from Aden city and to return of the Saudi-backed exiled Hadi government forces with Islah militants to the city.
