Spain sets new record for Coronavirus infections

SANAA, Nov. 3 (YPA) – The number of Coronavirus (COVID-19) infections in the country increased by 55,019 on Monday, the largest daily increase since the pandemic began, the Spanish Ministry of Health announced.

Ministry data indicated that deaths increased by 379 to a total of 36,257 in the country since the onset of the pandemic.

The number of deaths recorded Monday is the highest in a single day during the second wave of coronavirus outbreaks, but still well below the record peak number of nearly 900 at the peak of the first wave in late March.

The total number of Covid-19 infections in Spain was 1,240,697, but Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said the real number was probably more than 3 million, according to studies and estimates.

Spain last week declared a six-month state of emergency in an effort to curb the second wave of the spread of the Coronavirus.
