SANAA, Nov. 1 (YPA) – An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale struck the eastern province of Maluku, Indonesia, on Sunday, without the possibility of causing a tsunami.
The media quoted the Indonesian Meteorological and Geophysical Agency as saying: The earthquake epicenter was 193 km northeast of the Maluku Barat Daya region, with a depth of 196 km below the sea floor.
The agency noted that residents in the towns of Somlaki and Dobo, felt the strength of the earthquake, to varying degrees.
It is reported that Indonesia is often prone to earthquakes because it is located in a region prone to tremors, called the “Pacific Ring of Fire”.
