Sanaa delegation to “prisoner file talks” returns home

SANAA, Oct. 1 (YPA) – The national delegation to the prisoner file talks returned to Sanaa Thursday evening, after a round of negotiations with the other party on the file of prisoners in Switzerland under the auspices of the United Nations.

“We, with the help of Allah, returned to the homeland after participating in a round of negotiations on the file of prisoners in Switzerland,” Abdulqadir Al-Mortada, head of the national committee for prisoners’ affairs, said on Twitter.

He added: “We are waiting for the implementation of the agreement, God willing, in the middle of this month.”

Last Sunday, the Sanaa delegation signed an agreement with the other party in the Swiss Montreux city, which stipulated the release of 1,081 prisoners from both sides, including Saudis and Sudanese, as a first batch.

The agreement included the release of 681 prisoners of the army and popular committees in exchange for 400 from the other party, including 15 Saudis and 4 Sudanese, followed by the two parties’ signature of the executive plan of the agreement to start the exchange process on October 15th.
