New moves against Emirati occupation in Socotra taken

SOCOTRA, Sep. 29 (YPA) – A number of military figures, sheikhs and representatives of the Fishermen’s Association on the Yemeni Island of Socotra approved, in a meeting held on Sunday, to prevent ship-owners from transporting the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias to the island.

A statement, issued by the meeting, stressed the need for ship and boat owners to pledge not to transfer or bring any elements of the STC to the island.

The meeting held the Emirati occupation fully responsible for any acts of violence and fighting between the people of Socotra.

In the meeting, a representative of the youth was assigned to monitor all violations committed by the occupation against the people of the island.

During the past two days, the UAE brought hundreds of elements from Dhalea province and Yafea’ area to the island to confront and suppress the opponents of the occupation’s presence.
