Storm Sally hits US Coast

SANAA, Sept. 13 (YPA)- Tropical Storm Sally increased off Florida’s west coast on Saturday and  is expected to become a Category 1 hurricane, the US  National Hurricane Center said

The typhoon is expected to trigger high winds, flash waves and flooding on the US coast overlooking the Gulf, Reuters reported.

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards declared a state of emergency and called on residents to prepare for the storm.

Storm Sally is expected to cause 15 to 30 centimeters of rain along the Central Gulf Coast and could cause flooding from Florida to Louisiana.

The storm disrupted oil production in the Gulf of Mexico for the second time in less than a month.

The National Hurricane Center’s evening forecast swelled to 137 kilometers per hour before it reached the mainland on Tuesday.
