NATO fighters intercept Russian aircraft over 5 seas during “Ocean Shield” exercises

SANAA, Aug 30 (YPA) – Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday that NATO has sent its fighters to the airspace of five seas to intercept Russian warplanes that participated in the “Ocean Shield 2020” maneuvers.
According to the “Russia Today” website, the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy in the Russian Army Nikolai Yevminov said that NATO fighters intercepted 10 Tu-142 anti-submarine planes while they were carrying out scheduled flights as part of their maneuvers over the Seas of the Lions, the Baltic, Norway, Chukchi and Beaufort and along the Northern Sea Route. And in international waters in the Pacific Ocean.

Yevminov stressed that the Russian aircraft did not violate international aviation rules and that the Russian naval military aviation crews confirmed their combat readiness to carry out the tasks assigned to them in any region of the world’s oceans, whatever the circumstances.

Previously, Russian “Su-27” fighters intercepted a US strategic bomber B-52H in the skies over the Baltic Sea.

On Saturday, two Russian “Su-27” aircraft intercepted an American B-52N bomber over the Black Sea.
