SANAA, Aug. 8 (YPA) – The Culture Minister in the National Salvation Government Abdullah Ahmad al-Kebsi on Saturday called on all relevant organizations, institutions and bodies interested in human heritage to speed up the initiative to save Old Sanaa city.
During his inspecting visit to homes affected by heavy rains and floods in the old city, al-Kebsi urged the organizations on the implementation of urgent programs to limit the total collapse of the city, especially in light of meteorological indicators that confirm the continued flow of torrents during this period.
The Minister expressed his regret at the scale of the damage to the homes, stressing that the Heritage and Cultural Development Fund should work to alleviate the suffering of people according to the presidential directives in this regard.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Cultural, the minister stood on the ruins of the late great poet Abdullah al-Bardoni’s house, holding the heirs of the poet al-Bardouni responsible for the situation that the house had reached, despite efforts made by the ministry to convert al-Bardoni’s house into a museum.
