Mohammed al-Houthi: Saudi-led coalition’s escalation is a US decision

SANAA, July 2 (YPA) – Leading figure in the Supreme Political Council, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi confirmed that the escalation of Saudi-led coalition and the United Arab Emirates air raids on the capital Sanaa, came after a US decision announced on Tuesday from the center of Riyadh.

He blamed Saudi Arabia and America for disturbing general tranquility.

US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook announced support and assistance to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, and what is happening now (referring to bombing capital Sanaa)  is a result of the US decision to reject peace,” Mohammed al-Houthi said in a tweet at midnight Wednesday.

“The US resolution rejecting peace is a declaration of participation and support for the continuation of the aggression against Yemen,” he added.

Political Council member Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, pointed out that the bombing of coalition aircraft no longer frightens anyone in Yemen, after some 200,000 raids for  over five years.

Addressing the coalition: “let them Bomb, he said quoting a poem by Yemeni famous poet Abdullah Al-Baradouni. “Yemen is stronger,” he confirmed.

On Wednesday, coalition warplanes dramatically stepped up their airstrikes on the capital Sanaa and the province, carrying out 70 raids targeting civilian neighborhoods and facilities, including a home appliance factory and a tire store, causing civilian casualties and material damage.

Earlier on Wednesday, Mohammed al-Houthi reiterated the call for the Saudi-led coalition and the United Arab Emirates to sign a comprehensive solution to end the war, which was handed over to the UN Political Council through its envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, in early April.

“I call on the coalition once again to sign a comprehensive solution instead of patchwork and fragmented solutions.” Referring to the document of a comprehensive solution to end the war and bring about a just peace.

On April 9, the Supreme Political Council presented a comprehensive solution document to end the war, which included three main themes: a total and permanent ceasefire, the lifting of the blockade and the start of quick remedies for the economic and humanitarian sides” prior to political consultations.
