Saudi Arabia fails to stop Shabwa tribes’ revolution

SHABWA, June 13 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia has failed to stop the fight breaking out between Shabwa tribes and Saudi-backed Islah militants in many areas in Shabwa province.

According to sources on Saturday, the Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Mohammad a-Jaber, contacted a number of sheikhs of the province to mediate between Nassab tribes to stop their attacks against Islah militants in Nassab and Jordan districts.

In spite of Saudi Arabia’s great efforts to stop the confrontations, fighting have been resumed between tribes and militants in Nassab district, which medium and light weapons were used in the confrontations near government complex in the district.

On May 26, 2020, Sheikhs and tribes of Nassab district held a tribal meeting to discuss the issue of the citizen’s death Talal Eriq Al-Dawali, one of members of the tribes of the province, was killed by so-called special forces belonging to Islah militants.

Since which, Sheikhs and tribes of the Nassab district have attended the Saudi-backed exiled Hadi’s government to quickly hand over the killers to justice and remove the “special forces” of the Islah party from Nassab district, but Islah party rejected Nassab tribes’ demands, and strengthened their forces in the district, which led to armed confrontation between the two parties.

Islah militants has controlled over Shabwa governorate since the beginning of 2019, after they could defeat the Southern Transitional Council’s forces backed by the UAE.
