SANAA, May 7 (YPA) – At least Five people were killed early Thursday and hundred hospitalised after a gas leak at a chemical plant in southern India.
According to international media, the gas leaked is likely to be “citrine” gas, where the accident occurred at 3:00 a.m. local time, after a fire broke out at the LG Polymers plant in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam district.
Doctors said that “hundreds” of people had been taken to hospital. “Many of the injured were complaining of breathing difficulties and burning in their eyes,” they said.
Indian media circulated videos showing people jogging in the streets as ambulances rushed to the scene.
Indian reports indicated that eight people were killed, including an eight-year-old girl and two elderly people.
