6 killed by crash of military plane in Bolivia
SANAA, May 3 (YPA) – The Bolivian Air Force announced that a light military plane crashed on Saturday killing its crew, along with four Spaniards they were transporting before returning to their country amid the outbreak of the Corona virus.
The statement said that a “Beechcraft Baron B-55” military plane crashed and killed all six people on board.
The accident occurred near the southeastern city of Trinidad, where passengers were taken to Santa Cruz. Bolivia also closed its borders to contain the spread of the global epidemic.
Initial investigations indicated that the aircraft had reported its intention to return to the airport in Trinidad 12 minutes after take off due to engine failure. Then the connection to the plane was lost, according to Reuters.
The Bolivian Investigation Board responsible for civil aviation accidents is scheduled to report on the cause of the accident within eight days.
