US: More than 1,400 new death cases of coronavirus recorded in 24 hours

SANAA, May 3 (YPA) – Johns Hopkins University confirmed Sunday that the number of victims of coronavirus ( Covid-19) in the United States has exceeded 1,400 in the last 24 hours.

“During this period of time, the number of deaths in the United States increased by 1,435 new deaths,” the university said in a statement.

The United States, which recorded the first coronavirus-related deaths in early February, is the most affected country in terms of the number of infections and deaths, with more than 67,000 deaths and more than 1.16 million cases.

Earlier, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized the use of the Ebola treatment drug “Remedisfer” to treat people with coronavirus in an emergency.

This means that antiretroviral therapy can now be given to patients who are hospitalized with severe Covid-19 symptoms.

But giving the FDA authorization to use the drug in an emergency does not mean that it has formal approval, as it requires a higher-level review.
