LAHJ, April 14 (YPA) – The UAE failed to eliminate one of the founders of the so-called Southern Giants Brigades, (Al-Amaliqa) Brigadier General Hamdi Shukri al-Subihi, from the al-Qaeda movement.
It came through an assassination attempt orchestrated by the assassination official Ammar Afash and carried out ( the security belt militia) funded by UAE, in the area of Al-Fiush in Lahj governorate, turned into violent confrontations, which was resolved by Shukri in his favor with the forces of the second brigade Giants.
“On Monday, Brig. Gen. Hamdi Shukri al-Subihi survived an assassination attempt by the security belt militia, which started with attacking his house in the Al-Fiush area” at the entrance to Lahj governorate in the direction of Aden, military sources said.
“Hamdi al-Sabihi was able to turn the confrontation in his favor with the help of the forces of the 2nd Brigade Giants,” the sources added.
The sources said: at least two of UAE-backed militias were killed dead and seven other wounded, in addition to capturing 45 prisoners.
Al-Subaihi forces seized medium and heavy weapons in large numbers and taken control over seven important positions, according to the sources.
The rest of its armed groups were forced to withdraw and flee from the scene of confrontation.”
“The UAE and its new agents Ammar and Tarek Afash failed to implement their plan to liquidate the brigades of the southern giants,” one of the sources said.
“The attempt by the UAE-backed militia (STC) to liquidate the commander of the 2nd Brigade, southern giants and the brigades of the giants in general, comes as a rejection of its integration into the army forces of legitimacy, and an extension of its attempts to get rid of its old tools after international accusations that it is “recruiting extremist leaders in al-Qaeda”, by supporting its new agents in southern Yemen and the west coast of Yemen,” the sources noted.
According to southern sources, “the UAE sought in 2019 to dismantle 13 brigades of the southern giants and stop its allocations, and to draw its commander general and its most prominent leaders to Abu Dhabi under the pretext of discussing problems before subjecting them under house arrest.
In conjunction with the isolation of other leaders and the assassination of dozens of them with direct planning and supervision of Brigadier General Ammar Afash, former undersecretary of the National Security Service.”
According to the sources, “the UAE worked to dismantle about a dozen brigades of the so-called resistance, and attract the leaders of battalions in which they are wanted with money and intimidation by physical liquidation, in addition to reducing financial allocations, stopping food supplies and fuel supplies, and stopping recruitment in its ranks, in an effort to join its forces and equipment to the forces of Tariq Afash and appointing the latter as commander of the joint forces in the West Coast.”
It is noteworthy that the UAE is currently using the forces of the so-called “security belt” of the Southern Transitional Council to extend its influence over Aden and the southern provinces, while relying on mercenary Tarek Aafash and the forces of the so-called “National Resistance Guards of the Republic”, which finance their recruitment, arming and financing with the aim of occupying the west coast of Yemen from Bab al-Mandab to Midi.
