MARIB, March 25 (YPA) – Sultan al-Arada, governor of Marib province appointed by exiled Hadi, has failed to contain the wrath of the Murad tribe, the largest tribe in Marib, and dissuade it from announcing the withdrawal of its fighters from various fighting fronts in the province.
This comes against the background of Saudi-led coalition’s refusal to meet the tribe’s demands and pay financial compensation.
A tribal source in Marib said that al-Arada held a meeting with sheikhs and dignitaries of Murad tribe Tuesday in a village in Ya’ara of Juba District, and justified his inability to meet their demands that “the coalition began to stop support for the province and the legitimate government forces.”
The sheikhs and elders of the Murad tribe who participated in the meeting, refused al-Arada’s justifications, the source added.
According to the source, the sheikhs and notables of Murad tribe criticized the takeover of al-Arada and Islah Party on the support provided by the coalition, and stressed that they are continuing to implement their announced decision.
Murad tribe had announced in a statement, signed by 22 of the its sheikhs and notables, the withdrawal of the tribe’s fighters from the fronts, demanding the coalition and “legitimacy” to leave from their areas and spare them the war.
In parallel, a field military source in Marib confirmed that the UAE is continuing to strip the Islah Party (Brotherhood) of its military force in Marib.
He said, “Sagheer bin Aziz (a military commander loyal to coalition), with open Emirati financing, continues to form new brigades in conjunction with the dismantling of the brigades affiliated to the Islah.”
