Ben Gurion Airport workers’ strike paralyzes flights and causes chaos in parking lots

OCCUPIED AL-QUDS, Aug. 20 (YPA) – A strike by Ben Gurion Airport staff has caused major disruption to air traffic, with several passenger services suspended and operational procedures within the airport disrupted.

The Airports Authority announced a halt to landings starting at 2:00 PM, with some departing flights gradually resuming. The closure of parking lot entrances also caused severe congestion and trapped hundreds of vehicles.

The Airports Authority held the workers’ committee responsible for the chaos and threatened to take legal action in labor court if the disruptions continued.

In contrast, the Histadrut labor federation denied issuing any strike orders, attributing the situation to chronic staff shortages and inadequate preparation for the travel season, and blaming the airport management for the crisis.
