Al-Rajhi new victim of torture inside Islah prisons in Taiz

TAIZ, March 24 (YPA) – Mujib Ahmed al-Rajhi died inside one of the Islah militias prisons in Taiz, southwestern Yemen, sources reported on Monday

Medical sources in the city confirmed that al-Rajhi’s body arrived Sunday at Al-Thawra Hospital in Taiz, a dead body with traces of torture in various parts of his body.

Al-Rajhi’s death in the Islah military police prison after he was kidnapped at the end of February from his workplace in Bir Pasha district, on charges of belonging to al-Houthi, sources said.

He is one of the victims of abduction and enforced disappearance in the Islah prisons, after the abduction of 17-year-old Ayman al-Wahbani, his death under torture in the Axis of Taiz prison, and the handing over days later a lifeless body to his family.

The families of hundreds of abductees and forcibly disappeared in al-Islah prisons and detention facilities fear that their children, including activists and journalists recently arrested, will suffer a similar fate to Al-Rajhi.

Human rights reports indicated that there were approximately 30 prisons in Taiz and Marib provinces, which are affiliated with the Islah party, where they practice various types of brutal torture against abductees.

A human rights commission tasked with monitoring the cases of the disappeared in Taiz last month uncovered horrific crimes committed by al-Islah militants and documented the existence of 16 secret prisons and 70 hidden prisons.

The Islah militias’ prisons are full with abductees and forcibly disappeared anti-Islah protesters in the city, including journalists and human rights activists since 2015.
