China reports 13 new death coronavirus cases

SANAA, March 17 (YPA) – Chinese authorities reported early Tuesday that 21 new confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) have been reported, almost all of them from abroad, while the death toll has resin to 13.

The State Health Committee of China said in a statement that 20 new cases of overseas arrivals had been detected in the country’s land, including nine in Beijing, while only one person was infected inside China, in Hubei Province, a source of the epidemic.

The Commission reported that 12 of the 13 deaths were recorded in Hubei, one was detected in Shaanxi Province, 930 people were discharged from hospitals after recovering on Monday, and the number of sever ill patients decreased by 202 to 2,830.

A total of 80,881 confirmed infections in China’s major provinces by the end of Monday, including 8,976 patients still receiving treatment, 68,679 patients discharged from hospital after recovery and 3,226 people died of the disease.

Official data indicate a significant decline in the prevalence of the new coronavirus in China, while several countries in the world, particularly Italy, Iran, Spain and South Korea, are facing an accelerated outbreak.

The Chinese authorities have already confirmed that the country’s greatest risk for the virus is posed by infections coming  from abroad.
