UAE plans to control oil market in Socotra
SOCOTRA, Jan. 19 (YPA) – The UAE-backed militias have closed fuel stations in Socotra Archipelago province since the beginning of this week, causing a major fuel crisis.
“Al-Mahra News” website quoted local residents on Sunday as saying “the UAE tools prevented residents of the province from obtaining oil derivatives and spread rumors among citizens that the crisis was caused by Hadi’s government.”
Through this provocative campaign, Abu Dhabi seeks to impose its plans and enables Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) to control selling oil derivatives on the island, the website explained.
The website added that the UAE worked to disable the arrival of the oil shipment from several Yemeni ports more than 10 days ago to force the local authority on the island to use oil suppliers belonging to Abu Dhabi.
“The UAE wants to control the oil market in the archipelago, considering Socotra belonging to it and not a Yemeni island, which it wants in the rest of the southern province,” the website quoted a source in the province’s local authority as saying.
