15 Afghan security personnel killed in Taliban attack
SANAA, Dec. 24 (YPA) – 15 people were killed by Afghan security forces by an ambush set up by the Taliban Takfiri movement at a government checkpoint in Balkh province, according to “Reuters” quoted local officials.
Muhammad Yusuf, the governor of the state of Dulatabad where the attack occurred, said that dozens of Taliban fighters had targeted a checkpoint manned by Afghan soldiers and intelligence personnel, and had killed 15 people.
Seven Afghan soldiers have been killed, the Afghan Defense Ministry said in a statement, and the ministry does not tend to reveal the exact numbers of victims of the fighting with the Taliban.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack and said they had killed at least 20 members of the security forces, captured four others, and wounded six.
