QUDS, July 25 (YPA) -Israeli occupation forces just released the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Sheikh Mohammad Hussein, after briefly detaining him from the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound following his Friday sermon.
According to Palestinian sources, he has been banned from entering the mosque until Sunday and summoned for further questioning that day.
Earlier in the day, the occupation forces detained Sheikh Mohammad Hussein, following Friday prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied Jerusalem.
His arrest has drawn widespread condemnation within Palestinian religious and popular circles. The arrest is seen as part of ongoing policies targeting religious figures in Jerusalem.
The incident comes amid continued Israeli settlers’ incursions into the Al-Aqsa compound, carried out under heavy protection by the occupation police, marking an ongoing escalation of violations against Islamic holy sites in the occupied city.
