FM meets Deputy WHO Resident Representative in Yemen

SANAA, Nov. 19 (YPA) – Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf on Tuesday met with Deputy Resident Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) to Yemen Philip Smith.

They discussed the possible cooperation in providing some urgent needs for surgical operations, which are needed by many health facilities in light of the continued closure of Sanaa International Airport and the deliberate blockade imposed by Saudi-UAE aggression.

Sharaf stressed the need to intensify the efforts of international bodies and non-governmental organizations to face the spread of epidemics, especially the epidemic of dengue fever, cholera and others, which are a result of the humanitarian disaster caused by the aggression and siege.

He pointed to the importance of coordination between WHO and local authorities to ensure the arrival of aid to all affected people.

For his part, WHO’s Representative said that the control of epidemics and prevention is a priority in the organization work, affirming the organization’s quest to strengthen cooperation with health centers and institutions in Yemen.
