Coalition has destroyed Yemen’s economy: Mohammed al-Houthi
SANAA, Nov. 15 (YPA) – Member of the Supreme Political Council Mohammed Ali al-Houthi on Thursday said that Saudi-led coalition has destroyed the economy of Yemen according the statistics of a recent report issued by the World Bank (WB).
Al-Houthi called on the Parliament and the National Salvation Government to highlight the report’s contents and discuss it to expose the coalition countries and their mercenaries before the Yemeni people.
In a series of tweets on Thursday midnight, al-Houthi said: “The aggression countries and their mercenaries are the cause of Yemenis’ pain. The aggression has devastated the economy, and damaged the production chain and markets in the real sectors.”
He referred that the losses associated with damages and stoppage in industry, agriculture, livestock and fisheries sectors since the end of 2015 are estimated at $ 18 billion.”
On the direct effects of the coalition war, al-Houthi said: “Demand is also declining, and a quarter of companies have suspended all operations. It is estimated that 35% of the service sector, 29% of industry and 20% of commercial companies have ceased. ”
The Political Council member highlighted the direct impact of the coalition war on the services sector. “The centrally produced electricity service has diminished since late 2014, and was finally stopped as the conflict began in 2015, according to WB report.”
The World Bank report details the effects of the coalition war on the economy, including oil sector and salary cut off, he added.
