STC’s militia attack Ataq Airport, Hadi’s forces sites in Shabwa

SHABWA, Oct. 13 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia on Sunday launched a fierce attack with various weapons on Ataq Airport and military positions of forces of Hadi and Islah Party in Shabwa province, southeast of Yemen.

STC’s militias used high-explosive rocket-propelled grenades in the attack on the Ataq airport, in conjunction with another attack with thermal rockets on a military barracks of Hadi’s forces in Radhom district in the province, according to sources.

The transitional council’s militias have recently stepped up attacks against Hadi’s forces in Shabwa after suffering heavy casualties during battles with the former over the past month.

The UAE-backed militias are trying to recapture Shabwa, one of the most important oilfields, in an attempt to break the blockade imposed by Saudi-funded Hadi forces and thwart their ambition to control Aden.
