SANAA, Sept. 2 (YPA) – The Shura Council, in its meeting on Monday chaired by the Council’s Speaker Mohammed al-Aidarous, continued to discuss the report of the Committee on Agriculture, Fish and Water Resources.
At the meeting, al-Aidarous indicated to the importance of the agricultural sector, which is one of the most important economic sectors in Yemen, as it contributes 17 percent of the GDP.
The Council’s Speaker stressed the importance of implementing the national vision and its executive mechanism with regard to the agricultural side.
In this regard, al-Aidarous underlined the need to pay attention to all that would enhance the steadfastness and stability of Yemeni farmers in these current situations by giving them the necessary facilities from the relevant authorities.
He emphasized on reconsidering the plan of restoring the state-owned farms to be under the direct supervision of the Agriculture Ministry, as well as taking strict measures to prevent unusable agricultural pesticides.
