Over 42,000 patients died due to closure of Sanaa Airport, Health Minister

SANAA, Aug. (YPA) – Health Minister Taha al-Mutawakel said over 42,000 Yemeni patients have been died due to the ongoing siege by the Saudi-led coalition on Sanaa International Airport since the last three years.

The ministry said in a statement that more than 350 thousand patients, including women and children, are suffering from cancers and other diseases, need to travel to aboard for treatment.

Al-Mutawakel affirmed that the closure of Sanaa airport has caused in a shortage of more medicines and medical supplies, led to suspend mostly health centers.

“We are ending three-year old siege of the coalition on Sanaa Airport, which serves most of Yemen’s health, trade, education and other aspects of life related to the airport,” he added.

The minster held the U.S.-backed coalition countries, led by Saudi Arabia full responsible for consequences of the siege, which pushes millions of the Yemeni people to starvation and causes in spreading of diseases and epidemics.
