SANAA, June 12 (YPA) – Cholera hit Yemen early this year, and number of cases increased hugely between January and March, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) said in a Tweet.
The organization confirmed that it has received some 10,000 suspected cholera cases in Yemen since the beginning of 2019.
“Because Yemen’s health system is in a state of collapse, patients have not always been able to get medical care on time,” MSF added.
The health sector in Yemen suffers from a severe deterioration due to the worsening conflict, which has led to outbreaks of epidemics, diseases and the closure of a large number of health facilities.
