LAHJ, April 9 (YPA) – Medical sources said on Tuesday that Cholera epidemic has killed 12 people and inflected more than 1,000 others over the past three months.
The spread of the epidemic has raised since early 2019 and never stopped because of a shortage of medical supplies and medicines and the war and siege imposed on the Yemeni people by Saudi-led coalition, as well seasonal rains.
According to the U.N.’s World Health Organization, the coalition airstrikes have damaged sewage systems and water stations, and most people don’t have access to clean water, particularly the more than 3 million driven from their homes by the war imposed on Yemen.
Cholera is spread primarily by water and food tainted with feces and usually can be treated if caught early, but it can kill swiftly by dehydrating its victims through vomiting and severe diarrhea.
